Missional Church - Subtitulado

I hope that our church can look like this. We aren't there yet, but we need to get there.
Espero que nuestra iglesia puede llegar a ser así. No hemos llegado todavía, pero espero que estamos en el camino.

podcast with Brian Jones and Missional Monks

Last night my friend Brian and I had the chance to talk with Bret and Chris AKA the missional monks about missional and monastic Kingdom life. You can listen to it here. I'd also recommend that you visit the Missional Monks web site and join the conversations about what it means to join God's mission wherever you are.

a new puppy!

It is hard to believe, but we are once again doing something we never thought we'd do... we now have a dog in the house! Don't be alarmed, our beloved Coffee is still with us, but now we have a new puppy too. His name is Buddy and it has been quite a journey to get him.
Gaby has been asking for a puppy for a long time and we had told her to stop asking because we already have one dog and that was enough. She quit asking us, but she started praying more about it and telling friends to pray with her too! Then, last Thursday when she was going to another school for her enrichment class she got to talk with a bus driver there who knew that she was working on a research project about golden retrievers. He told her that he had just rescued a lab/retriever puppy they found out in the country and had taken it to his vet. Gaby gave him Naty's number to call and ask if we could get the dog. Miracle of miracles, Naty said we could go and see the pup! The vet then told us that they needed to keep it one more day to see if the owners could be found and if not, we could take him home for the weekend to see how it went and if we really wanted to keep him or not. A test drive for a puppy!
We got Buddy Friday after school and he has been with us ever since. We spent the weekend praying and processing and came to the conclusion that having Buddy would be an answer of prayer for Gaby and also a good way to keep us focused on what God has called us to in Columbus. We keep reverting to thoughts of moving somewhere else, even though we know God has called us to be right here right now. Thirdly, having Buddy will connect us more to our neighbors here in suburbia. Since Coffee is usually outside with room to run around, I don't walk her very much. We decided to keep Buddy inside because his hair is too thin to spend much time outside or in the garage. So, he needs walked every day and Coffee loves the walks too! We've already had more interaction with our neighbors thanks to the walks and I'm sure it will only increase when the weather gets above freezing again!
For now, we're learning about how to train a puppy, and it is bringing our family together and we hope leading toward God's Kingdom coming more in Columbus.

snow day

We had our second snow day of the year today and all enjoyed it immensely. With extra time on my hands I "tweeted" more than usual today. So instead of writing more here just give http://twitter.com/dionpeachey a click and you can see a bit more about our day.

The biggest news for now is that we have a new member in our family, a yellow lab named Buddy! We never thought we'd ever have a dog in the house with us, but thanks to our daughter's persistence in prayer and proving she can be responsible, we now have Buddy. He was rescued by a bus driver that Gaby knows and he knew that she was crazy about getting a puppy so now he's ours! So far he's been a real blessing, we hope that continues...
