camping with church family

We had a fantastic weekend camping with our church family. Friday night we packed up and headed to Alum Creek State Park, about 40 minutes north of Columbus. Naty and I both agreed that we had even more fun this year than previous years, but we're not sure why. After all we never took showers all weekend! This was the first year we were able to take some of our Latino friends along with us and it was also fun meeting some new friends from some of the other house churches.

Our neighbor Jose came along and had his first ever camping experience, which he thoroughly enjoyed.

Alejandro, Yolanda, Dennis, Chio and Kevin, a Mexican family from our house church joined us camping for the first time too. They also had a great time. Here are Dennis and Chio, ready for a chilly night after a week of 90 degree temperatures.

On Saturday morning Marcus caught himself a 12 inch Largemouth Bass!

With a catch like that, we had to cook it up...

... and eat it! (Lamar doesn't look so sure about this fishy breakfast!)

We also had some delicious blueberry pancakes made over the fire by Sim.

Coffee, our dog, came along for the camping trip too and had a lot of fun running free and playing with all the kids.

Does Brennan look like a camper or what?

We had a great time with new friends like David, Aaron and Ian.

Here is beautiful Rachel in one of her many cute outfits! How many times did she change over the weekend?

All the fisherkids headed back to the lake!

Here we have Alejandro trying to make Kevin laugh, but it seems Kevin is very deep in thought!

Hot dogs anyone? (Editor's Note: During the men's retreat in August I think I had hot dogs for about three meals, this time it was for only one!)

Ready to go hiking.

We think we followed the trail...

Our littlest camper enjoying the ride.

I finally convinced Naty to get in a picture with the hiking bunch.

Looking at a Hickory tree and then picking up Hickory nuts with Gaby on the way back to camp.

Juggler Yoder with our evening entertainment.

Time for some of John's famous "Utah S'mores"

Sorry we don't have any more pictures, our camera battery died...

After some more fishing and a short COLD night sleeping we had a bountiful breakfast and a wonderful worship time together on Sunday morning. Then we packed it all up and headed back to the city. We can't wait for CNM camping again next year!

Greetings faithful blog readers from your not so faithful blog writer... I'm past due again...

Lately we've had lots of excitement and celebrations, we like that! On August 28th I graduated from THE Ohio State University with a M.A. degree. We were very happy to have Dad and Mom, AKA Grandpa and Grandma Peachey with us for the weekend to celebrate.

Labor Day weekend, my brother Daniel and his family came out to visit us a celebrate some more!

We had a great time at Slate Run Metro Park on Saturday...
and then had a blast setting off model rockets on Sunday.

Sunday night we invited them to join us for a cultural experience at a Mexican birthday party to celebrate our friend Dalia's 9th B-day.

On Monday, Labor Day, we bought some more rocket engines and set off the rockets again with other friends.

Last Thursday we celebrated Naty's Birthday with some new friends from Venezuela. They made cachapas con queso one of our favorite Venezuelan foods.
